CurrentProvide leadership and strategic direction for a 15-member engineering team to design, improve, and maintain the reactor servicing system for all NIMITZ Class aircraft carriers during mid-life refuelings and end-of-life inactivations. • Development of new, and improvement of existing, system designs including mechanical analyses, fitup studies, detailed technical drawings, and system performance evaluations.• Provide new or updates to existing system-wide nuclear reactor servicing manual requirement documents scoping and directing refueling system operation at nuclear capable shipyards. • Engineered refueling systems to have integral criticality safety with compliance to naval nuclear regulations. • Built productive, trusting, and highly-engaged relationships with a range of internal/external stakeholders, including Naval Sea Systems Command (government oversight), Bechtel Plant Machinery Inc (equipment supplier), Newport News Shipbuilding (end-user), and NNL senior management.• Provide emergent problem solutions for significant shipyard operational stoppages.• Manage an engineering services contract with Newport News Shipbuilding; annual $6M budget.• Chartered, funded, and established local innovation teams at NNL and Newport News Shipbuilding that identified 100+ system improvement initiatives in a mature system and process. • Established new project management structure for the USS JOHN C STENNIS (CVN 74) refueling and USS NIMITZ (CVN 68) inactivation systems preparation with new tools to proactively manage work.• NNL emergency response team leader for NIMITZ and FORD Class carrier accidents or system failures with nuclear significance during reactor servicing evolutions.• Oversee the generation of approximately 70+ technical documents annually including necessary regulatory documentation for compliance with NAVSEA standards; 98% commitments completed on-time. • Ensure all delivered products meet NNL, NAVSEA, and end-user quality standards.
