I am a research scientist who builds stuff.I work on computational intelligence in people, in machines, and between people and machines. My work spans Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence, and specifically has included: -conversational agents -intelligent user interfaces -robotics -cognitive architecture -machine learning -computer vision -document recognition -pokerFor several years I managed a document recognition group at Xerox PARC, and I served as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence. I am the principal developer for the ScanScribe document image editor and the Visual Email application.
