ABOUT ERIC SCHAFFER:A native of Maryland, Eric attended Bucknell University graduating with a B.A. in 1987. Following some time off to attend military training at Fort Benning, Georgia he attended Dickinson School of Law at Penn State, graduating with a juris doctor degree in 1991. He was admitted to the Maryland Bar in December 1991 and has been practicing law in Maryland ever since.After working as both an Assistant Public Defender and then an Assistant States’ Attorney Eric was in private practice with the firm he co-founded in 1999. While there he successfully handled a large variety of courtroom work, including criminal defense, traffic cases, divorce and custody, automobile accidents, personal injury and other civil litigation. In September 2018 he was appointed by Governor Hogan to be an Associate Judge for the District Court of Maryland. In August of 2020 he was elevated to Administrative Judge for District 11 where he supervises the District Court operations for Frederick and Washington counties.A former infantry officer in the United States Army and Maryland National Guard, Eric is also a past elected member of the State Republican Central Committee. He is currently a member of the Frederick County Bar Association and Maryland State Bar Association.
