At the University of Rochester, I studied:- The effect of the gut microbiome on various musculoskeletal conditions including osteoarthritis, osteomyelitis, and impaired fracture healing in obesity.- The mechanisms behind the increased prevalence of osteoarthritis in the obese and type 2 diabetic populations

As an intern in the Moses lab, I was involved in investigating:- The impact angiogenesis has on the progression of both prostate cancer and meduloblastoma. - Biomarkers to evaluate the stage and progression of both prostate cancer and breast cancer. These assays were carried out to develop a non-invasive clinical test for these cancers, in hopes of reducing the need for tissue biopsies for diagnosis.

For two years at Stonehill College, I was an undergraduate research assistant under the direction of Sharon Ramos-Goyette. Here, I learned various laboratory techniques including tissue culture and western blot to evaluate the effect of the pak6 protein on the sexual differentiation of the brain. My work resulted in my attending two scientific conferences where I was able to present a poster at one, and give an oral presentation at the other.
