Position: Shift SuperintendentResponsibilities: To start the production of a new 600 ton per day Float Glass Plant.To interview over 1400 people to select 300 to be in a pre-employment class, explaining the workings of a float plant.To produce the material that would be taught in the pre-employment classes, then to attend and teach the material.To supervise the construction of the plant including the final stages of the Melter, Tin Bath and Lehr.To supervise a shift during the 3 week “Heat Up” process that accompanies the starting of a new Melter, Tin Bath and Lehr.After the completion of the “Heat Up," I was responsible for 1 of 4 shifts that work a rotation providing 24 hour a day coverage for all aspects of the plant. The Shift Superintendent was the back shift Plant Manager.There were 6 supervisors who reported directly to each Shift Superintendent; in turn these supervisors had a total of 45 production employees for each shift.

Position: Line Manager Float #1Responsibilities: To supervise all areas of float glass production including raw materials, mixing, melting, forming, annealing, cutting, packing and closing in a manner consistent with the policies, safety regulations and quality standards outlined by company management. To assist in handling problems or emergencies in all plant facilities during the back shifts.To assure that correct methods of operation were followed in the production of the glass and the job performance of supervisor and hourly employees were kept at the maximum levels.
