Assistant ProfessorLoyola University Chicago Aug 2006 - Jul 2013▪ Awarded a 3 year $150,000 NIH R15 grant (R15 EY019409-01) from the National Eye Institute to study Retinal Bipolar Cell development and regeneration.▪ Awarded an NSF, MRI grant (ID – 0923330) To acquire a Laser Scanning confocal Microscope, fulfilling a critical need in the department.▪ Created and refined several tools for the creation of transgenic zebrafish permitting injection of newly fertilized zebrafish eggs at a higher level of throughput. Designed and built a durable & low cost electronically controlled pneumatic injection system that reliably permits pico-liter volume injections into single cells. ▪ Developed and taught courses in Cell Biology and Developmental Biology and Molecular Pathogenesis at both the Undergraduate and Masters Student levels. These courses have been unique in their incorporation of materials from multiple sources, both textual and electronic, as well as covering the historical context of discoveries in these fields. I have become well regarded and popular as a lecturer at Loyola.

Reasearch Associate - Laboratory Of Rachel O. WongWashington University Nov 2001 - Jul 2006St. Louis, Mo▪ Focused on the development of the retina zebrafish as a model organism. Created transgenic organisms, expressing multiple colors of fluorescent proteins in different cell types for in vivo imaging. Helped build an in house multiphoton microscope that outperformed multiple commercial based systems. ▪ Developed an enzyme-prodrug based system for targeted cell ablation in zebrafish, for use in studying regeneration. Co-founded a biotech startup company based on this now patented technology.
