Mr. Schultz is currently part of the Army Vulnerability Assessment Detachment (VAD), providing Red Team support. In this capacity he is creating custom code for use by the Red Team, as well as traveling to locations in the U.S. and around the world in support of Red Team assessments of Army networks. In September of 2009 he achieved both Certified Penetration Tester (CPT) and Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) certifications.Prior to this Mr. Schultz provided a variety of services, from custom software development to malware analysis to system administration to the training and mentoring of the more junior members of the team. In this capacity he has: analyzed source code for malicious programming; inspected executables for malicious activity such as data ex-filtration; developed and tested source code in C, Ruby, Perl, PHP, Python as well as Bash (shell) scripting language; prepared and presented brown-bag style training on topics such as using digital signature and encryption with e-mail; assisted co-workers with software issues such as OS upgrades and configuration errors; attended workshops and training on penetration testing and malicious code analysis; and prepared reports for the customer on the activities listed above.

He: created addenda to the project's system security plan (SSP); applied OS patches to Windows servers; added/disabled Windows accounts; updated the anti-virus software for the various sub-nets on a weekly basis; frequently transferred data between the various subnets and the ‘outside’ world; often provided user support for Citrix and other problems; escorted authorized visitors around the server room; arranged for authorized personnel to be added/removed from the vault alarm system; arranged for the destruction of defective hard drives as well as used CDs, DVDs, tapes and floppies.Prior to that Mr. Schultz was part of a team designing a Java based e-mail gateway. As such he: gathered and documented requirements; reviewed design documents; prepared documentation for DCID 6/3 certification; prepared and presented slides for milestone briefings (PDR, CDR, etc.).Before the Java based e-mail gateway Mr. Schultz installed, configured and maintained a Jabber (IM) server; and he installed, configured and maintained a content management system (CMS), a web calendar and discussion board. He attended the 2005 Black Hat Briefings and Training in Las Vegas, participating in the Hacking By Numbers training program conducted by the South African security group, Sensepost.

Mr. Schultz was part of a small team developing a web front end for various open source and custom tools used on the project: gathered requirements; designed, developed and tested a RFC/DR tracking system for use on the project.Mr. Schultz put together a 2-tier, web-based survey: gathered and documented requirements; developed a design; coded and tested; and prepared documentation in the form of on screen help and a user’s guide. He maintained and enhanced programs written in Perl used by the office to process raw data, preparing it for inclusion in weekly and monthly reports.Mr. Schultz was lead developer for a collection of Lotus Notes databases: performed requirements analysis; designed database documents, views and navigators; developed and tested formulas and LotusScript code. He led the migration of R4 databases to Notes R5 and X509 certificates, using tools such as TeamStudio's Analyzer to assist in the analysis and planning. He acted as virus point of contact (VPOC); cleaned up minor computer virus outbreaks. He developed and tested a MS Visual Basic application to parse raw accounting data for down-stream billing operations, replacing an old Clipper application. He designed and developed a prototype Domino website for a proposal effort.

He created a conceptual web site (HTML, Javascript) in an effort to win new business. He participated in payroll redesign effort: gathered and documented requirements; prepared slides for briefings. Mr. Schultz graduated from the 10 week EDS System Engineering Development (SED) program at the top of his class. For the class project, acted as database administrator, was a team lead (1 of 4) and also a member of another team.Prior to the SED training, Mr. Schultz was part of an effort to streamline daily repetitive tasks: gathered requirements; developed and tested c++ code. He led a macro development effort, designing, developing and testing macros for various DOS & Windows word processors. Gathered and documented requirements, developed and tested code for a mail-relay project. Provided technical support for computer hardware and software; assisted in the processing of purchase orders; designed and developed an order tracking system; and expanded the network from 5 to over 15 workstations.
