About Eric Shanks, Phd
Retired in 2023 after 40+ years of public service. I specialize in American Government and Policy.I last taught Omaha (NE) North High School Scholars of the Nebraska College Preparatory Academy. As a scholar, my research followed Herbert Simon (1985) who assumed that the goals of an organism are its most endearing features. I investigated emotions linked to visual stimuli. In 2009 I coined the term "Rational Cultural Determinism©" which is a theory that 'well-reasoned interpretive investigations can effectively elevate bio-physical phenomena to a place in political science where the architectures of physical perception are used to describe emotional aspects of political behaviors.While making observations of physical affect in visual tests, I found that fluctuations in changes of pupil size areas were different when views of sad faces were shown to three separate political orientation groups. I wanted to add to the discussion of what 'hot' entails in a physical sense related to reflexive characteristics of activations of automaticity from primes as discussed in Lodge and Taber (2005).
