About Eric Sharp

I began my professional career in the dot-com boom of the late 90’s after graduating Full Sail University in Digital Media.I'd compare it to jumping on a moving freight train that had no destination.Over the first couple years at WildCard Systems (now FIS, Inc.) as a Web Designer, I had a front-row seat to the rapidly changing world of digital marketing. I mainly designed and developed websites and Flash applications for small businesses. YES, I was responsible for those annoying Flash intros ("SKIP INTRO!")I went on to collaborate with a team of designers, programmers, managers, QA, & C-Level folk on projects with multi-million dollar budgets (and we had serious fun!) It was the epitome of a startup. Late nights, scooters, Half Life -- we had it all, except the ping pong table.I became the Creative Lead at WildCard Systems in 2003 and focused my efforts on their Fortune 500 clientele such as Bank of America, AAA, Visa. I designed e-com websites and interactive training apps. I also collaborated with the CFO and Communications Dir. to create keynotes, sales presentations, and tradeshow displays. WildCard was then acquired for $228M in 2006.During these years, I started ProtoFuse (Est. 2001) as an outlet for freelance work where I'd design websites for anyone with $300 in their pocket. (Seriously.) As I refined my UX and digital marketing skills and gained business acumen, I went all-in with ProtoFuse on Jan 1, 2005. Over the next decade, my small team designed websites and inbound marketing strategies for a variety of companies like Stanford University, Dixon Ticonderoga (remember the #2 pencil?), Carefree Communities (acquired in 2016 for $1.68B), and mid-sized B2B Tech companies.     I established this company in 2001 as a means to do freelance work (formerly named A2M Interactive, Inc.) and operated it as a division of Caxiam Group from 2005 to 2013.As I watched the digital marketing landscape change, I knew as an agency owner I needed to stay ahead of the curve. We wandered through the world of broad and non-specific positioning (both horizontal and vertical). We did some great work for numerous companies, but our work for B2B Companies in the Technology space seemed to draw the most attention. Those clients experienced groundbreaking revenue growth and cost-savings after hiring us. And we genuinely liked working for them. No brainer, right?After some lengthy discussions with agency positioning experts, we made the bold move to re-position ProtoFuse towards the end of 2017. We now focus exclusively on finding and serving mid-sized B2B Technology companies and helping them with their Digital Marketing needs.Everything we do week to week is driven by the goal to become the best digital marketing expert for mid-sized B2B companies with a technology product or service.
