Return on Science is an investment and advice mechanism for commercialisation of intellectual property from New Zealand Universities, Crown Research Institutes, and private companies. The programme was established with the mission of increasing the quality and quantity of New Zealand commercialisation from research. Collaborating with a network of professional entrepreneurs, venture capital investors, independent board members, company directors, founders, IP lawyers, and commercialisation consultants to provide business strategy and investment advice to emerging medical technology projects.

Responsible for designing and building a mechanically-powered robotic system for physical therapists to assess the proprioceptive performance of subacute stroke patients in a hospital setting as a predictor for motor recovery.Worked within Professor Reinkensmeyer’s Biorobotics Lab at the UC Irvine Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in collaboration with the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology.

Responsible for developing a Python algorithm to validate hip implant contact metrics along the cortical bone regions. Segmented and processed high-resolution microCT medical images for further analysis.Preliminary results from this analysis were presented alongside the wider study by the research team at the International Society of Technology in Arthroplasty (ISTA) 2023 conference in New York.

• Designed and implemented plant upgrades using Solidworks to enhance the manufacturing process engineering trials for a new product on a mock production line.• Assisted data collection in the Respiratory & Acute Care team following material testing protocols and mock production trials for a new product.• Acquired knowledge of FDA 510(K) medical device regulations and QSIT auditing processes through active discussions with senior product & regulatory engineers.
