I'm an expert in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Quark XPress and Flash, and have worked and taught in the fields of printing and graphics for over two decades, since the days of DOS, before GUI systems existed, when I was tasked with laying out our weekly university newspaper using only DOS commands. I have run a prepress service bureau single-handedly for a very busy downtown print shop, doing design, typesetting, file troubleshooting, and film output on Linotronic machines and color laser and inkjet printers. In university, the yearbook I designed won 1st place nationally in the Scholastic Press Association's annual contest. After university, I was production manager for a weekly newspaper, and built and ran the paper's darkroom. I've also been using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator since the very first version, and have taught the Adobe Suite to hundreds of students in Canadian colleges. Later, I went on to become the sole in-house graphic designer for a busy Canadian real estate headquarters. From there, I went on to earn PC field service technician certification, with a 4.0 grade point average, and MCP, A+ and Network+ certifications. I can build a PC from parts, and do basic network administration, installation, troubleshooting and repair, including minor printer repairs. I also established a home-based publishing company in Tokyo, Japan.
