I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth. Everything I have and everything I am I had to work hard to get. The obstacles I have overcome in my life have molded me into the driven, dedicated man that I am today, and this shows in how I work. I can always be counted on to get the job done…and done well, because my experiences have taught me that nothing worth value comes without hard-work and secure employment with good pay is highly valuable. For the last 9 years I have been working at a U.S. postal facility for General Dynamics. I am one of only two technicians responsible for supporting 250 users and maintaining 300 PCs, peripherals, and scanners. New issues and problems arise on a daily basis and I'm the one that's called on to fix them. I’ve learned how to research problems and find solutions myself because there is simply no one else to ask for help. I am often asked to do things that are completely outside the realm of my job. I have given presentations, lead meetings/conference calls over various projects, taught myself how to repair RF scanners, traveled to facilities across the country to set up their kiosks and work stations, evaluated software/hardware and discussed purchases with vendors, and trained PC users. I received an Employee of the Month Award for my work effort and providing good customer service.My simple down-to-earth nature makes me easy to talk to. I have received awards and countless praises from management for how well I treat our customers. The users consistently say that I am the only technician in IT that does not talk down to them or make them feel stupid for asking questions. I’m simply respectful of others and treat them like I want them to treat me. My family has convinced me to move to Tampa, Florida in the near future so I will be seeking employment in that area.
