My wife Laura and I began tapping our woods in Cambridge, Vermont in 2009. For the first six years, we sold our maple crop on the bulk market. In 2016, with our eyes set on elevating maple in new and innovative ways, we brought on Curt Alpeter as president and partner and launched Runamok.Our focus was on creating a truly unique maple syrup product and brand. With elegant packaging, innovative flavor profiles, and the highest quality ingredients, our infused, smoked, and barrel-aged maple made waves in the food world from Oprah’s Favorite Things to Saveur and Food&Wine. We quickly grew from there. We diversified our offerings with a line of organic, maple-based cocktail mixers and bitters in 2019. In 2021 we expanded into nature’s other exquisite sweetener and launched our line of raw varietal, infused, and hot honeys.Today, Runamok partners with approximately four dozen small, family sugarmakers across Vermont to ensure our supply, as well as a handful of family-run apiaries across the U.S. to source our premium honeys. As Runamok continues to grow, we maintain our commitment to our environmental and social mission. The way we see it, both maple and honey are products that work for a better environment and not against it. We aim to be not only good environmental stewards of our land but also for the planet. We are proud to operate an organic, certified bird-friendly sugarbush and continue to push to be leaders of environmentally sustainable and socially responsible business.

125,000+ tap sugaring operation managed across two sugarbushes totaling more than 2k acres; multiple landholders. One of the largest sugaring operations in the country. Our sugarbushes at Thunder Basin Maple Works are certified organic by NOFA-VT and certified bird friendly through Audubon Vermont's Bird Friendly Maple Project.
