About Eric Stitt
I am a non-game wildlife ecologist with over 20 years of experience working as a consultant to public agencies and the private sector, and as an independent researcher in California and Arizona. I have performed project-related work throughout California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas, and have provided biological services in support of transmission lines, gas pipelines, solar arrays, military lands, FERC-relicensing, wind power generation arrays, national parks and preserves, and numerous road and infrastructure projects; as well as for private industry and housing sector clients. I have worked extensively in habitats of the northern Sierra Nevada, California’s Central and San Joaquin Valleys, California’s salt marshes and Central Coast, and the Mojave, Sonoran, and Chihuahuan Deserts. I am versed in all commonly used vertebrate field inventory and survey techniques, and have led large-scale, multi-agency and multi-company groups of biologists over numerous projects with short time-frames. Of particular interest to me are the population and community biology, habitat relations, and biogeography of reptiles and amphibians. I am interested in problems related to invasive herpetofauna, conservation of biodiversity, and threatened and endangered non-game species. I have published and presented nearly 100 papers, notes, conference presentations, posters, and technical scientific reports and presently hold permits for California red-legged frog, California tiger salamander, Chiricahua leopard frog, giant gartersnake, and listed vernal pool branchiopods.Specialties: Wildlife EcologyHerpetologyConservation BiologyThreatened and Endangered Species
