I have a Master of Accounting from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and a Bachelor of Laws from the same institution. I also hold a Legal Practice Certificate issued by Queensland Law Society. I am currently a Senior Migration Lawyer at Yakr. I oversee and manage a diverse range of migration cases, including visa applications, appeals, and judicial reviews. This involves assessing and preparing applications, advising clients on the best course of action, and ensuring compliance with Australian migration law.I represent clients in dealings with the Department of Home Affairs and the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT), and, if necessary, in federal courts. This includes preparing submissions, presenting arguments, and advocating on behalf of clients.Stay updated with changes in migration law and policy and ensure this knowledge is disseminated throughout the team.Provide leadership and direction to the migration law team, ensuring all team members are motivated and guided effectively to achieve their individual and the firm’s objectives.Conduct detailed research and analysis of complex legal issues related to migration law, ensuring that advice and documentation are accurate and effectively support the client’s case.In my role at the ATO, I provide high quality advice to Treasury on new policy proposals, draft law and accompanying explanatory material. I work closely with Treasury and Office of Parliamentary Counsel to identify and resolve potential defects in draft law prior to enactment. I also strengthen our policy advocacy and development process to inform new policy and law simplification initiatives. I use my communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and deliver effective and efficient outcomes.
