About Eric Thornton

I am a seasoned educator with 12 years of experience and a passion for teaching high school students and young adults. I believe that the opportunity to mentor and guide the next generation is a privilege. In academics I really enjoy Economics, Business, and History. I bring a lot of versatility to the table with experience teaching a wide range of courses including AP Economics, AP Comparative Government, AP US History, IBDP History, IBDP Business Management, and more. I am seeking to specialize in Economics and Business, but I have flexibility to add other courses to my schedule. Students in my course receive a variety of instructional methods. I aim to create a student-centered classroom that meets the needs of all students, and I have experience employing debates, inquiries, projects, simulations, document analysis, and other activities into my courses. Students in the past have told me they appreciate my efforts to make courses relevant to their lives. My wife and I generally apply to schools together. Her name is Haley Martin, and she has experience teaching IBDP Psychology, AP Psychology, World History, Geography, and more. She holds a Master's degree in Education and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Carolina.
