Mijn werk bestaat uit het ramen van de budgettaire effecten van wijzigingen in fiscale wetgeving op het gebied van de loon- en inkomenstenbelasting en de omzetbelasting. De ramingen modelleer ik in het CPB-microsimulatiemodel MIMOSI. Verder analyseer ik grote belastingdatabestanden voor bijvoorbeeld evaluaties van fiscale regelingen.

Onderzoeksstage bij de divisie monetaire strategie.Samenvatting van het onderzoek:My research assessed the impact of the ECB’s lowering of its rating threshold for collateral on relative asset prices. More specifically, changes in rating spreads were studied in the period October 2008 – April 2010 in the corporate and uncovered bank bond market. I used event study methodology to investigate whether abnormal changes in these rating spreads could be observed on the days that the ECB announced (implemented) the lowering (extension of the lowering) of its rating threshold. The results were mixed. Abnormal changes could only be observed for the announcements in October 2008 and only on the market for uncovered bank bonds

Afstudeerstage. De resultaten van mijn onderzoek heb ik gepresenteerd op de 2e internationale conferentie van de Financial Engineering and Banking Society 7 en 8 juni 2012, te Londen. Samenvatting van het onderzoek: My master thesis examined whether credit ratings of banks are related to their size and location (i.e. inside or outside the euro area). I estimated a multilevel regression model for banks’ credit ratings using data retrieved from Bankscope in 2011 and found that there is a hump-shaped relationship between size and the credit ratings of both Fitch and Moody’s, suggesting that both credit rating agencies incorporate that a bank may become too-big-to-fail and too-big-to-be-rescued in their ratings. My results also suggest that, controlling for country specific factors, banks located in euro area member countries receive a higher credit rating from Fitch than banks located outside the euro area.
