As a Principal of Cybersecurity, my daily responsibilities include strategic network security planning, firewall policy audits, analysis and remediation, project consultation, network compliance, and network troubleshooting.In addition, I am a Special Projects Lead with additional responsibilities, including IPv6, design of EDLs on Palo Alto firewalls, leading initiatives to automate EDL updates, firewall updates and migrations, URL, FQDN, and geographic firewall filtering initiatives, and micro-segmentation. I was the compliance consultant for the hybrid cloud firewall strategy and automation project. Other responsibilities have included firewall design and life cycle, proxy design, migrations, and lifecycle. Cybersecurity engineer for Bell South corporate operations. Responsibilities included Firewall and proxy design, management and operations, firewall and proxy policy audits, remediation, and troubleshooting. Technologies included Checkpoint firewalls, Provider 1, Bluecoat proxies, Sun Solaris, Crossbeam, and Nokia appliances. I consulted on internal projects as a network security compliance resource.

Security consultant contracted to Compaq for the network redesign of KPMG.COM. Provided network and server security design including IDS and firewalls.* Provided technical design and project coordination for the security aspects of the project.  * Developed the intrusion detection (IIS Realsecure) procedures and design, firewall design, and security policies.  * Developed and documented server hardening procedures and processes.  * Established hardware requirements for the intrusion detection system and firewalls.  * Provided run books and documentation for the new environment.

Security consultant for Worldcom designing a pilot VPN project for the client BP. This VPN design was used as a proof of concept for a proposed production VPN system. * Designed and tested a VPN pilot system for remote offices.* System design included Nokia IP-330s running Checkpoint Firewall-1, Secure Client and Secure ID token authentication. * Configured, documented, and trained BP support staff in use of Nokia IP330, Checkpoint Firewall-1 and Secure Client for troubleshooting and support.

Network audit, redesign, and operations for Schlumberger's gas meter manufacturing data center and backup datacenter. Systems included LAN/WAN networks, servers, print systems, internet connections, Firewalls, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and mail systems.* Managed all aspects of the network redesign project including design, procurement, implementation, and documentation. * Redesigned and modified client's network to support new Internet based applications.  Performed network and security audit of client’s data center and backup data center. * Performed a complete security assessment and audit of servers, routers, switches, applications, and firewalls. Provided management with recommendations and performed updates and configuration changes to the network, servers, routers, switches, applications, and firewalls.* Design and installation of VPN connection for remote offices and mobile users via Checkpoint Firewall-1.* Upgraded network equipment including switches, firewalls, and routers. Implemented network and host based security policies. Installed redundant WAN connections for backup datacenter.

Network engineer and consultant contracted to Security First Corporation. Provided network / firewall design, implementation, and management for State Farm’s internet banking venture and network support for lab environments. Recognized for contributions and performance for Neteffect’s first million dollar account.* Design and installation of the client’s DMZ network consisting of high available Nokia IP650 firewalls running Checkpoint Firewall-1 Cisco load balancing, Catalyst 5500 and 6500 series switches and 3600 series routers. * Provided the customer with a new network to host its new Internet banking division. * Network design, implementation, and management R&D lab and staging environments. Duplicate networks were designed and built for proof of concept, application testing, and troubleshooting.* Security assessment of network. Performed updates and configurations modifications as new vulnerabilities and threats were discovered.* Maintained and administered all network equipment, business partner connections, network management, and documentation.

Lead network engineer for Cotton States Insurance Corporation. Principal duties included administration of Novell Netware and Windows NT servers, LAN/WAN network design and support, and internet connectivity.* Administration of over 15 Netware and 10 Windows servers, all company print servers, and user account management. * Network engineer for all WAN connections including hundreds of remote office routers. * Management and installation of company’s first Internet connection.* Managed corporate wide email upgrade from Lotus CC:Mail to Microsoft Exchange.* Administration and support of NDS and NT Domains, including NDS for NT. * Administration of data network including upgrades, security, switches, routers, circuits, DNS, DHCP, networked printers, and fax systems. * Installation, support, and maintenance of Cisco and Ascend (Lucent) routers, and Checkpoint Firewall-1. * Administration and support of client workstations including 95, 98, and NT.

Managed Novell Netware and Windows NT networks, upgraded physical network infrastructure from ArcNet to Ethernet, managed all client workstations, printers, Citrix remote connections, ISDN connections, and PBX phone system.Managed accounts receivable and produced monthly P/L and balance sheet statements.
