The Federal Public Defender Office of Puerto Rico has almost 60 employees with over 30 of them being attorneys. The Federal Public Defender's Office will have approximately 1,000 open criminal matters at any given time and we are responsible for delivering legal training to local federal criminal defense bar.Previously, as an Attorney Adviser at the Office of Defender Services, I design CLE programs for Criminal Justice Act panel attorneys on a national basis. We are tasked with providing training to over 13,000 federal defense attorneys. Additionally, I lecture nationally, and abroad, on federal criminal defense issues with a specific emphasis on experts, technology in the courtroom and sentencing.In addition to training, I have represented hundreds of federally indicted defendants, nationally and abroad, at all levels of prosecution, and for all imaginable types of alleged federal crimes. Specializing in complex litigation, including white collar matters, with an emphasis on using computerized techniques to both defend and present matters in federal court. Developed advanced methods of preparing and presenting expert testimony in federal trials. Served as Special Counsel to the United States Sentencing Commission in Washington, D.C. and as an Attorney Adviser at the Office of Defender Services' Training Branch in Washington, D.C. Have worked in both private practice and with the Federal Defender's Offices throughout the United States while representing indicted individuals.Specialties: Sentencing in Federal Court, Computerized litigation, use of experts and general trial techniques. Have acted as the lead attorney in hundreds of federal matters and been the lead attorney in dozens of federal trials. Have traveled throughout the United States, and abroad, to educate practicing attorneys on advanced modern trial techniques.
