Assistant Director
Direct the daily processes of the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA), a highly visible USF System Office housed within the Graduate School. Establish policies, action plans, and accountability measures for the OPA and ensure their execution. Evaluate customer service levels, determine if enhancements are required, and make appropriate changes to ensure necessary improvements. Directly supervise OPA staff, graduate liaisons, and undergraduate student workers. Ensure a constituency base is built by reaching out to departments, faculty, and scholars.Oversee internal and external printed and Internet communications, including production of the OPA newsletter, brochures, and high-quality, compelling, and customized web content. Manage all phases of the redesign of the OPA website and deliver a persuasive, modern, and accurate portrayal of the postdoctoral experience at USF. Utilize signature authority to oversee the OPA operating budget (approx. $560,000) in expense planning and expenditure authorizations, as well as serve as an accountable officer designee for Graduate School accounts totaling $27 million. Ensure the maintenance of OPA human resource records, leave information, and payroll information for postdoctoral projects by utilizing the “GEMS” PeopleSoft Human Capital Management system. Maintain and publish developmental workshop opportunities for postdoctoral scholars and their mentors, facilitate the development of a USF Postdoctoral Association, maintain the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs’ master database, and be the USF point of contact for all national postdoctoral and non-faculty researchers’ reports, including the annual NSF postdoctoral report. Represent the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and the USF Graduate School at national conferences and seminars as requested by the Dean. Coordinate and approve all travel requests of the OPA staff within the “FAST” PeopleSoft Financial Management system.
