Maintain the Institute’s environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Responsibilities include:• Conducting laboratory and vivarium compliance audits and risk assessments, offering guidance and direction to rectify deficiencies.• Preparing and delivering safety training modules for laboratory personnel and support staff.• Serving as the Institute Biosafety Coordinator, overseeing the review of research biological safety protocols.• Functioning as a biosafety resource, providing oversight for the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).• Leading accident investigations to enhance workplace safety.• Administering biological and hazardous waste programs, including the management of exposure control plans.• Overseeing the Occupational Health Program to maintain the well-being of institute personnel.• Proactively engaging with Principal Investigators (PIs) to address arrival and ongoing needs, ensuring the efficient implementation and operation of research programs.• Ensuring compliance with EH&S, federal, and state standards, particularly in relation to the receipt of federal funds such as NIH grants.

• Assisted in the experimental design of projects involving viral vector technology for a diverse group of research scientists.• Designed and produced lenti-, retro-, and AAV viral vectors. • Managed lab equipment and supplies.• Acted as Environmental Health and Safety liaison. • Worked closely with Environmental Health and Safety to design novel biosafety protocols as they pertained to a newly established viral core facility.
