Eric Wasson, Chst Email and Phone Number
My experience and training in safety and security includes General Industry, Construction, and Disaster Preparation and Response. I am as comfortable in an office environment or warehouse as I am in a freshly excavated trench or a hurricane disaster zone. I can provide training presentations to both employees and management on a wide variety of topics. One topic in which I specialize is Workplace Violence, which has been an increasing problem for several years. While no one wants to consider the possibility of violence impacting their workplace, the fact is that no company is immune to it.I am very passionate about safety and security, and I apply my knowledge and skills in my personal life as much as I do professionally. Because of this, I have developed a list of "Ten Commandments" over the years for how I currently approach corporate safety and security:I. Safety is not the goal. Going home to our families is the goal. Safety is merely the tool we use to accomplish that goal.II. As a Safety Professional, I have two primary tasks: First and foremost, I am responsible for preventing employee injuries. However, my other task is to protect a company from exposure to liability.III. No one will ever hear me say "Safety First." In any industry, there is Productivity, Quality, and Safety. All three must work together equally to achieve sustainable growth. One can never be sacrificed in favor of the other two.IV. No company is too small to have a safety program in place.V. I will never exempt myself from any safety or security policy I have put in place. VI. Safety is on ongoing process, not a single event.VII. Employee training is a two-way street. Ideally, I will learn as much from the employees about how to do their job as they will learn from me about how to do it safely.VIII. I will never refuse to get my hands dirty.IX. Situational Awareness is a critical skill for incident prevention.X. I do not believe in "accidents." That term implies that whatever happened could not have been prevented. Anything that occurs is an "incident."In addition to safety and security in the physical world, I also have extensive experience in the area of cybersecurity. I am able to conduct assessments of a company's liability exposure to cybersecurity threats, and I offer trainings for employees that puts safety and security while online in layman's terms.I love what I do for a living, and this will become apparent to anyone I meet or who attends any safety presentation I provide.
