Assist with the contract review process for company wide contracts in markets throughout the nation. Working in the legal department of the corporate office, it is my job to work with the Senior Contracts Manager, corporate attorneys, and general managers of nationwide markets to ensure timely and accurate review, processing, record keeping, revision and execution of all incoming agreements and miscellaneous related duties.

In addition to the duties carried out as a Rights and Permissions Agent, additional responsibilities include:- Review and analyze incoming contracts and amendments.- Prepare contract briefs and prepare monthly contract reports for senior management. - Update and maintain accurate contract and royalty information in company system. - Communicate with business partners and publishers to obtain and maintain up-to-date copyright information. - Conduct legal research on Alfred’s contractual rights as needed for management and digital team.

Employment came after a successful internship in the Business Affairs Department the previous spring (January – April 2012). In addition to the tasks assigned as an intern, duties as an employee include:- Negotiating, approving and processing third party licenses, including mechanical, synchronization, arrangement, music/lyric reprint and sub-out license permissions. - Verifying copyright information and splits when processing licensing requests.- Contacting and receiving approvals from outside publishers when necessary. - Accurately invoicing and logging all licensing fees. - Maintaining accurate records of licenses and payments. - Executing end-of-quarter royalty runs.- Analyzing licensing income and determining emerging revenue trends.- Registering new original works with Performing Rights Organizations.- Investigating potential copyright infringements and issuing cease and desist notifications.- Maintaining healthy, working relationships with clients and publishers.- Updating departmental procedure records as systems and procedures change.- Training and guiding incoming interns.

Began an internship at Alfred Music Publishing while pursuing undergraduate degree. Duties as an intern included: - Issuing adjudication, photocopy and mechanical licenses for songs. - Researching information for third party copyright songs. - Handling royalty payments. - Registering new original works with Performing Rights Organizations. - Maintaining accurate records of licenses and payments. - Drafting briefs of recently written contracts.
