Manage the daily operations of the university and internal audits. Responsible for the accounting of all funds including general, designated, student accounting, payroll and accounts receivable and contracts. Monitor financial and audit activities and ensure proper communication of transactions involved. Lead on university collections, billing and reconciliation of department accounts. Currently developing a 3 year business objective plan for all university departments activity in order to meet compliance standards.

Provide financial management of grants and contracts for private and government agencies. Implement cost effective processes of grant management and guidance in financial reporting and audit requirements. Review contract language to insure financial obligations are clear and documented appropriately

Responsible for managing $40,000,000 budget for university research grants and contracts. Provide financial support to all university Faculty Researchers, Grant Administrators, College of Engineering, Stuart School of Business and Kent Law School. Prepare and review all financial statements to Federal, State and Private Sponsors. Prepare and negotiate university Indirect Cost rate while also maintaining effective communication with the Research Community and grant agencies. Provide guidance for Financial Aid and Grant audit A-133.

Responsible for managing $168,000,000 in billings (fixed price, performance based, cost reimbursement, etc…) and financial reports to outside sponsors and agencies for colleges within Wayne State University. Negotiated all collections for university research grants and contracts including payment arrangements. Reconcile unbilled and billed receivables, review contract billing and reporting language for accuracy. A-133 and A-21 review.

Responsible for managing $38,000,000 in research budgets for the (College of Education, Engineering, Pharmacy, Research, Law School, Fine Arts etc…) Also responsible for the review of billings and financial reports to external agencies (Federal, State & Private) and clinical trials. Managed reconciliation of final financial reports, account set-ups of new awards (BANNER & COEUS), mandatory cost review, effort reporting, deficit review and year end close-out of grant awards. Provide quarterly post-award training for university staff. A-133 and A-21 review.

Managed the income tax reporting of city residents and businesses. Developed a collection aging report which generated $900k in revenues originally not identified. Advised city counsel on legal ramifications of city border disputes with both residents and non-residents.

Responsible for the supervision of (10 Income Tax Auditors) with income tax compliance and collection of corporations, partnerships, residents and non-residents doing business in the City of Pontiac.
