Provided support in laboratory and field for a sequential batch reactor treatment plant rated for 1 MGD of combined residential and industrial flow from a large local dairy. Monitored treatment plant daily along with other staff, and independently monitored plant along with seven lift stations on weekend coverages. Repaired centrifugal and positive displacement pumps. Assisted in repair and maintenance aerators, mixers, valves, and automated samplers. Performed calibration and cleaning on inline probes. Operated Hycor thickener. Monitored addition of chemicals for phosphorous removal, disinfection, as well as caustic for pH adjustment of industrial waste stream. • Oversight of laboratory quality control program.• Graphed and analyzed data generated over a six-year period to determine patterns in nutrients and BOD for operational improvement. Correlated COD and BOD values for early warning of high industrial loading.• Added testing at several plant locations not previously monitored to improve reaction to potential plant problems and to improve plant performance.• Conducted quarterly fecal coliform testing for sludge storage. Performed weekly checks for filamentous and micro counts of SBR biota.• Assisted with decommissioning of old treatment lagoons, providing laboratory and field support for project.• Assisted with Michigan DEQ regulatory visits, answering questions regarding laboratory testing and operations.• Procured laboratory supplies. Provided support and guidance for major laboratory equipment purchases.• Developed odor control testing and monitoring in conjunction with plant superintendent.
