Working with my two peers, I conducted research for the Center of African Development’s African Spatial Inequality Project. This group effort seeks to collect and synthesize existing maps and data-sets pertaining to colonialism in Africa, in order to solve the issue of why Africa is so economically and socially unequal between its regions. Utilizing intensive research skills, Microsoft Office, and ArcGIS map-making software, we are able to work as a team on this project. I acquired a greater proficiency of Microsoft Excel especially.

Responsible for set up and organizing events at the Student Center of the College of William and Mary. Events range from small weekly club meetings to formal galas hosted by university officials. Handled direct customer affairs, ensuring satisfaction in real time. Given the task of orienting new coworkers, working in a productive and self-evaluated team of dedicated students and developing the necessary skills to accomplish goals in a team dynamic.

Recruited by German professor to work as instructor/aide for German 101: Introduction to German university course after performing well in higher level classes. Responsible for leading weekly review sessions, grading homework assignments, and as a teacher substitute as needed. Provided training in grammar, pronunciation, listening, speaking, reading and writing skills for beginning German language students. Became accustomed to the pedagogic method for effective teaching.

Wheaton, Il

Began as a dishwasher and kitchen crew member for the restaurant and banquet hall. Responsible for food service set up, food prep and clean up. As a prep team member, tasked with receiving and organizing daily equipment food and beverage supply orders. Progressed to banquet cooking, service, and plating for events up to 200 people, including planning hors d’oeuvres service. Learned the importance of organization, adapted to new tasks and methods leading to promotion within the food management organization.
