He previously covered the Midwest region of the NBA full-time, which included the Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks, Detroit Pistons and the Indiana Pacers while living in Chicago, Illinois.

Also contribute to MLive.com’s coverage of college basketball, football and the Detroit Pistons; produce many in-depth videos and powerful feature stories. Have written news stories and features about current and ex-pro athletes from the Flint area such as Mark Ingram, Glen Rice, Mateen Cleaves, and world champion boxers Claressa Shields and Anthony Dirrell. I also interviewed pros such as LeBron James, Steph Curry, and Draymond Green. Broke stories about Michigan State signee Miles Bridges’ recruiting; Digitally tracks the performance of my stories using Omniture and Parse.ly. Engage with readers of MLive.com, digitally and in person. The Flint Journal was named Newspaper of the Year by the Michigan Press Association in the 2013 Better Newspaper Contest.

Produces an original blog entitled “Flintstone TV” featuring exclusive web content and videos, including coverage of Detroit Pistons games for www.slamonline.com. Also had feature-length stories published in the magazine on basketball legends, Terry Furlow and Adrian Dantley.

Responsible for covering various sports events at Western Michigan University. Covered the women’s basketball beat and practiced with the team in order to become more knowledgeable about them.

Received great insight into newsroom dynamics and news gathering process through hands-on experience in the sports department. Became the unofficial Kalamazoo Central basketball beat reporter during the team’s march to the Class “A” state championship, developing great relationships with the coach and players.

Observed and Participated in the operation of a major market television station. One of the first interns to receive air time on a story that was originally produced and edited by myself about a local athlete playing football on a Division 1 collegiate level after initially losing eligibility. Also learned to edit using the Grass Valley editing system.
