As a team member at NASA DEVELOP, I undertook a ten-week research project. The first component of the project included using Landsat imagery to create a Tidal Land Cover Analysis Tool and map with a user interface in Google Earth Engine to assess wide scale tidal inundation events over time in Central Java, Indonesia. The second component consists of producing a time series of marine turbidity estimation maps with ACOLITE and SeaDas to assess variations in marine turbidity and sedimentation availability over time

Assisted Clark Labs on the research, development, and mapping of a long-term project funded by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. The premise of this project was to monitor global aquaculture production and its effects on coastal habitats, specifically mangrove and wetlands forests, by creating a baseline map of aquaculture and coastal habitats through image classification techniques. As a research assistant, my daily tasks included:• Aiding in the creation of baseline maps of aquaculture development and its implications on coastal wetlands for both present and historical dates using a variety of spectral dataset, e.g., Landsat and Sentinel, as well as radar datasets, e.g., SRTM and ALOS• Conducting research on different aquaculture systems and coastal habitats in the areas of the world where the project is creating baseline maps, such as Southeast Asia, South Asia, and Ecuador, to gain a better understanding of how aquaculture production and coastal habitat degradation differ on a global scale• Test and utilize different classification and automation techniques for the creation of baseline maps. These techniques include supervised and unsupervised classification, as well as machine learning algorithms, such as neural networks and random forests
