Evaluates, identifies, collects and preserves crime scene evidence to aid in the prosecution of criminals.Conducts visual and physical analysis and comparison of crime scene latent prints to national fingerprint databases.Develops, classifies and files latent fingerprints.Collects, preserves, logs and secures evidence; documents all handling of evidence and property; maintains activity logs and generates reports as needed.Receives property and evidence from law enforcement officers for testing and analysis.Assists with the identification of evidence at crime scenes.Processes photographic film and develops photographs.Provides in-service training of officers on collection of evidence at crime scenes.Prepares necessary documentation and evidence for court; transports evidence for court proceedings; may be required to testify in court. Assists in maintenance of crime laboratory and evidence processing equipment; orders supplies as needed, and maintains inventory of forensic supplies for Department.Performs other duties as assigned or required.

• Respond to major crime scenes against persons• Document the crime scenes through notes, diagrams, videography, and digital photography• Process the crime scene for evidence, i.e., weapons, body fluids, trace evidence and fingerprints• Recover and preserve the evidence for further processing and packaging• Provide support for patrol officers, detectives, and prosecutors• Testify in court as needed

•Process a wide variety of forensic materials associated with Improvised Explosive Devices, using various forensic techniques including RUVIS, Ninhydrin, and Forensic Light Sources among others•Recognize and preserve prints to be digitally photographed and catalogued •Use various teamwork approaches and techniques to increase production while reducing processing times and no errors•Maintain chain of custody for all forensic material processed•Prepare detailed notes and case documentation
