About Erica Murphy, Lpc-S

Erica Murphy is the founder of her therapy and coaching business The Way Forward, where she specializes in helping ambitious high-achievers learn how to calm their anxiety and manage their stress so they can have more joy, ease, and peace in their lives. Along with her 1-1 therapy services, she also provides ADHD support coaching and Small Business coaching to fellow therapists, coaches, & healing professionals. Before she opened her own business, Erica spent years working in New York City for some of the world's leading criminal justice reform nonprofits, such as Center for Court Innovation (CCI) and Center for Alternative Sentencing and Employment Services (CASES). During this time, Erica's experience ranged from being a Team Leader and Clinical Supervisor; to creating and maintaining partnerships with community-based service providers; to facilitating trainings as well as designing and implementing new programming. Throughout her time in the nonprofit arena, Erica strove to employ an intersectional and anti-oppressive lens that was strengths-based, trauma-informed, and culturally affirming. Erica is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and clinical supervisor in the state of New York, and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and clinical supervisor (LPC-S) in the state of Louisiana. Erica holds a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Loyola University New Orleans, and a master's degree in Forensic Mental Health Counseling from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Some of Erica's additional highlights include her acceptance into the competitive Tow Policy Advocacy Fellowship and the Pinkerton Graduate Community Fellowship, her volunteer work as a Crisis Interventionist with the New Orleans Police Department's Mobile Crisis Team, and being recognized by the Behavioral Science Unit of the FBI for participation in research on violent behavior
