The Rowland Foundation awards fellowship grants to support innovative schools and teacher leaders working throughout Vermont. In collaboration with a colleague, Rutland High School received a Rowland grant to support our school's work to create place based, interdisciplinary learning experiences for our students. As Rowland Fellows, over the course of the year we will be working to implement a sustainable Global Issues Network (GIN) Conference at Rutland High School. Focused on students taking action to solve pressing world problems, the conference relies on the use and understanding of multiple content areas as well as 21 Century skills.

Einstein Fellows support work occurring in various federal agencies in the Washington D.C. area. My placement is with Polar Programs within the Geoscience directorate at the National Science Foundation. The focus of the fellowship is to gain professional development experience in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) while supporting our office's individual education initiatives.
