At a young age, I learned how to use power tools to upgrade features in our home, and cultivated a passion for critical thinking, problem solving, and construction. At 11 years old, I joined Girls Garage where I learned a wide array of skills, such as MIG welding, masonry, carpentry, and much more. Over the course of 7 years, I used these skills to collaborate with others to design and build dozens of pro bono projects for local organizations. I became a spokeswoman for the program, which strengthened my skills in public speaking, communication, leadership, and teamwork. I was featured in two published books regarding my experience as a young woman in STEM: "Girls Garage: How to Use Any Tool, Tackle Any Project, and Build the World You Want to See" by Emily Pilloton-Lam and "Girls Who Build: Inspiring Curiosity and Confidence to Make Anything Possible" by Katie Hughes. In college, I studied Civil & Environmental Engineering and found an interest in Construction Engineering and Sustainability. I pursued a project engineering internship with NOVO Construction and gained a vast amount of experience in a short period of time, which solidified my interest in the construction industry.
