College Of Engineering
plan, execute, and evaluate specific communications projects for the College of Engineering, to include news stories/media relations, digital and print publications, social media outlets, and web pages that tell the stories of teaching, research, outreach, philanthropy, and inclusion and diversity by college faculty, students, and alumni to internal and external audiences strategically important to the college and university. Tell the story of the College of Engineering to broad audiences and produce critical internal communications. Work closely with reporters and media organizations to pitch and spread stories of the College of Engineering's work beyond Blacksburg, Virginia. Frequently travel to conduct on-the-ground reporting following engineering students and faculty, to such locations as Abu Dhabi, UAE; Hawthorne, CA; and Indianapolis, IN.Professional Development-Attended National Association of Science Writers' annual conference in Washington, D.C. in October 2018-Attended Public Relations Society of America's International Conference in Austin, Texas in October 2018-Earned my commercial aerial photography license (Part 107) through the FAA and trained with the Mid-Atlantic Aviation Partnership.-Completed HTML and CSS course via General Assembly, based in New York.-Attended Public Relations Society of America's Southeast District Conference in April 2018.-Attended News Press Photographer Associations' News Video Workshop in March 2018 (won award for work produced during the week-long workshop).-Attended CASE District III conference in February 2018.
