Having worked as a Paramedic in a variety of settings within the UK healthcare sector for all of my professional life I have always been passionate about playing an active role in providing the best care for patients who use the UK health service, whether in my direct care or outside of it. In my different professional roles I have gained a great understanding of the different aspects of our health and social care systems. I have a passion to advance these systems and the evidence-based care we provide to patients in my role at Research Practitioner with the National Institute for Health and Care Research Clinical Research Network.I am currently studying MSc Health Policy at City, University of London as well as participating in distance learning courses and webinars on the latest healthcare issues, specifically surrounding research and health policy. I aim to use my experience working within the NHS to inform my own research and desire to implement improvements for patient care locally and nationally. I have almost completed my studies and I am on track to receive the MSc at Distinction level after submitting my dissertation looking at the ethical governance of the NHS COVID-19 app.Outside of my professional roles I am passionate about seeing social justice both in my local community and internationally. I am a volunteer befriended for the local community project, Community Angels, which seeks to support the vulnerable and isolated within my town. I also campaign for the International NGO Open Doors who supports those who face persecution for their faith. It is both my professional and volunteer work which I seek the big picture that all people will receive adequate support and care when they need it.
