Educator and scientist (chemical sciences) in the tertiary sector. My research interests focus on utilizing molecular modelling to further our understanding of fundamental chemical processes. Computer simulation provides a direct route from microscopic details of a system to macroscopic properties and with the advent of more powerful and cheaper computing, the use of molecular simulation to gain atomic level understanding of important chemical and biological systems is rapidly increasing. I am also interested in research on the practice of teaching, in particular related to self-efficacy in first year students, transition to university study, equity in education, and online learning and teaching. I have experience and strong interest in effective governance in the higher education sector.Current research interests include:- Anomalous polymerisation rates of moderately hydrophilic monomers in water- Stabilization and disruption of phospholipid membranes by antifreeze and antimicrobial peptides- Antifreeze peptides and antifreeze glycoproteins and ice growth inhibition- High frequency dielectric response of water models- Online learning and teaching in chemistry and self-efficacy
