Hiv & Health Equity Intern
CurrentI am proud to be an intern at the HIV & Health Equity Program, where we are dedicated to ending the HIV epidemic and improving the overall health and wellness of the most marginalized Black and Latinx communities. Our approach is rooted in using a racial equity lens to address the social determinants of health, socioeconomic factors, and the institutional and structural policies and practices that enforce white supremacy, further disparities, and perpetuate stigma. At the HIV & Health Equity Program, we prioritize the use of person-first language, centering individuals rather than defining them by their condition. Our team engages in several impactful activities, including:- Utilizing storytelling to advocate for, engage, and mobilize communities most impacted by HIV through leadership development and training cohorts.- Collaborating with community-based organizations across the country to enhance the reach and effectiveness of our HIV prevention, testing, and care services.- Advancing new sexual health and wellness tools and resources through our bilingual My Body My Health public education campaign.I am excited to contribute to this transformative work and to be part of a team that is making a tangible difference in the fight against HIV and in the promotion of health equity.
