Dr. Erica Morgan earned her Doctor of Social Work degree from Tulane University in 2021, her Master of Social Work from Louisiana State University in 1996, and has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Louisiana since 2000. She is currently an Assistant Teaching Professor at the University of Southern Mississippi School of Social Work. For the past 30 years, she has worked with children and adults, specializing in clinical assessment, crisis intervention, psychiatric social work, chronic mental illness, adolescent and young adult mental health, trauma recovery, evidence-based therapeutic writing, and suicide prevention and intervention. She has been a public speaker and presenter for conferences, professionals, and the community for 35 years. As a psychiatric social worker in Louisiana, she has worked in every level of care from outpatient services to residential, through the Youth Service Bureau, DePaul-Tulane Behavioral Health Center, River Oaks Hospital, Louis Crisis Center, Catholic Charities, and private practice. She served as an Adjunct Professor of Social Work at Troy University, as a Clinical Liaison with the Louisiana State University School of Social Work Office of Field Education, and as a clinical supervisor for bachelors- and masters-level students from Our Lady of Holy Cross College in New Orleans, Southeastern Louisiana University, and University of Tennessee. She is Vice-President on the Board of Directors of Action Youth and Community Resources (AYCR), a youth development non-profit with a mission to reduce youth substance use and improve youth mental health through education and empowerment. As a grant-writer, Erica has garnered over $50,000 in funding over the past year to expand programs so more youth can benefit from the protective factors we provide. She is excited to be coordinating the PEERS(R) Program to provide social skills for teens with autism spectrum disorders. For 10 years, she served as a Board Member for the St. Tammany Outreach for the Prevention of Suicide (STOPS) fulfilling the role of Vice President for two of those years. Erica is a member of NASW, a certified instructor for the Journal to the Self(R) curriculum through the Center for Journal Therapy, has certification through Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), and is certified as a Psychological Autopsy Investigator through the American Association of Suicidology.
