I have a shared love for numbers and words. I first fell in love with numbers after fourth grade mini economy. We had “jobs”, earned “money” and learned about spending and saving (*Financial Literacy*). I even learned how to write a check. A lesson for which I am proud to say I never forgot. My love for words started at the age of 11 when I started writing my first (non-published) book. That passion launched my Journalism degree path that led to my career in communications. I began wordsmithing newsletters, brochures and press releases shortly after college. But my love for communications did not bring the career satisfaction I was searching for at the time. After four years, I job searched myself into a bank community development and foreclosure prevention role. Somehow, I was able to use my love for numbers/financial literacy to help people with homeownership, budgeting and money management. I was also able to use my love for communications by providing face to face engagement, group training and subject matter expertise presentations regarding homeownership and real estate. For more than a decade now I have spent my career working in homeownership, mortgage servicing and housing development financing. I have traveled to many states and worked with many partners focusing on community reinvestment goals related to homeownership, and now housing development. Today, I am an affordable housing financial compliance professional where I can enjoy my passion for all things housing and financial literacy related to a greater affect.As for my love for communications, I will welcome any opportunity to put pen to paper and grace any stage for speaking purposes (training/subject matter expert related).
