Purchasing Manager for the group of companies in charge of the following main portfolios (11 million €): powder coating, anodizing, EPDM rubber gaskets, steel stamping & forming, solar protection. •Effective worldwide sourcing of suppliers. Success stories range from new jobbers found at the MIDEST fair in Paris to tubular motors and solar protection products sourced from China.•Evaluating gains vs. risks / decison making / internal persuasion to achieve goals.•Project Management and leadership. Facilitator of the internal customers – suppliers relationship.•Supplier base rationalisation / supplier selection / upstream supplier involvement.•Performance tracking / reporting.•Salesman of the purchasing function within the company.

Coatings technology: I worked as Technical Support Chemist in the European Coatings Group. I played a key role in a team dedicated to the formulation and development of anti-corrosive organic coatings for applications primarily in the automotive industry. Metal pre-treatment : I worked from June 2000 as Technical Support Chemist in the UK General Industry group. Whilst there, I gained knowledge of pre-treatment techniques for aluminium, zinc and steel components (anodizing, chromating, phosphating).The principal accountabilities of these positions were:•To resolve customers’ product application problems.•In association with the commercial representative to conduct pre-trial surveys, organise and manage customer trials, making presentations to acquire new business.•Process and plant design.•To organise and run technology training sessions for the sales team and customers alike.•Production supervision and plant scale-ups.

Bedlington plant, UK.Polymer science: working in a tightknit team as Chemist in the R&D laboratory, I became experienced in the synthesis and testing of hot-melt polyamide adhesives, rosin based ink resins and protective coating curing systems.Projects arose either from our own research work (increase efficiency, reliability; decrease prices of our products by the use of new raw materials and by changing the synthesis conditions) or from special requests of customers asking us to create a resin matching their specifications (modification of existing products).

Whilst a chemistry placement student, I worked in the R&D European Centre for Granular Detergency. As a member of a team of 4, I helped developing new prototypes of the ‘Ariel’ washing powder for Central and Eastern European countries. Jobs varied from process design to trouble-shooting trips abroad.
