Computers have been my passion since childhood. I vividly remember the summer my grandmother brought home a room full of old computers she purchased from a local school lab. Back then, they ran on MS-DOS and required floppy disks to boot. At just 10 years old, armed with a stack of manuals and endless curiosity, I hacked my way into getting them fully functional. That summer sparked a lifelong love for technology—and a knack for tinkering.As I grew, this passion evolved into purpose. In middle school, I turned my newfound skills into a small business, repairing computers for family and friends to earn spending money. I later earned my certification at John A. Logan College and officially entered the tech world, troubleshooting and repairing computers for local small businesses.Fast forward 9+ years, and I’ve built a career as a software engineer, honing my skills in full-stack development, project management, and leadership. I taught myself to code at night while raising two little ones during my husband’s deployments, fueled by determination and a desire to make an impact. I even started local meetup groups to create safe, inclusive spaces for others to grow and learn in tech.Today, I run a consulting company that helps startups, small businesses, and government agencies build websites and mobile applications. Alongside consulting, I mentor veterans and their dependents, sharing my knowledge and guiding them on their tech journeys. I also founded Moms Who Code, which later evolved into We Who Code, a thriving community supporting diverse learners in tech.When I’m not coding or mentoring, you’ll find me managing my real estate portfolio, baking 👩🏾‍🍳, gaming 🎮, gardening 👩🏾‍🌾, or throwing pottery on my pottery wheel. At the heart of it all is my commitment to growth, creativity, and creating opportunities for others to thrive.
