I am the team lead for the IBM i Performance team in Lab Services. In addition to scoping contracts and coordinating work assignments for the team, I spend most of my time resolving performance problems and optimizing client's IBM i partitions.I help dozens of customers a year, ranging from "Mom and Pop" type businesses to some of the largest companies in the world. I commonly have to work in difficult situations where the customer is losing business due to the problems they are encountering, and there is a significant amount of pressure to get their systems running better quickly. I have traveled extensively and have worked with many clients in unique and diverse locations across the globe.Examples of common issues I work on include database connection pooling, partition configuration, Java thread safety issues, Java object leaks, faulting and memory pool configuration, high CPU consumption, SQL optimization, tuning garbage collection, etc.
