I think Eric's team recognized his leadership, but his leadership brand was enhanced when his team saw him frequently rolling up his sleeves to do the work. He was not a person to sit in his office and dictate. He saw himself as part of the team and was more than willing to do his share. Probably the greatest testament to Eric's work at Sun Chemical was that we were never able to effectively replace him, and the decision was made a few years later to outsource the audit function. I think not being able to find a suitable long-term solution in Europe was a big part of this. We were never able to find someone who had the combination of technical, business and people smarts that Eric possessed. Had we been able to retain Eric, I think the ultmate fate of the audit function would have been different. Eric was a game changer in every possible way. He is a person I would love to work with again and would be a great addition to any company."
