The Rural Program at Camp Fire USA, Alaska is a traveling summer camp that provides quality programming to Alaska Native communities across the state. As the co-coordinator I recruited and maintained consistent communication with partner community leaders; ordered, sorted, and packaged all logistical needs for the camps; and planned, led, and implemented camp counselor training. I also joined the teams serving St. Paul Island and Tuntutuliak to assist in proving quality programming and coordination support.During the school year, I also assisted with the after school programming for low-income youth, focusing mainly in theatre education and nutrition programming.

During my time with Fall Welcome I served as a First Year Seminar (FYS) Co-Instructor, Co-Coordinator, and Intern.As an FYS Co-Instructor, I lead a group of twenty new students through the Fall Welcome week and co-taught a college readiness and welcome class through their first term at Western Michigan University with a professional staff member. Our class focused on introducing college resources, teaching leadership development, and facilitating conversations on touchy subject for students to have a safe space to talk out their many questions about college life.As a Co-Coordinator I worked with two other coordinators to plan and implement a successful welcome week for over 2,500 new students. My focus was working with After Dark Activities, the Campus Resource Fair, volunteer recruitment, and donations. Additionally, I worked with my fellow co-coordinators to implement a training for over 200 student ambassadors the days prior to the university welcome week.As an Intern, I worked with one other Intern to recruit, hire, oversee, and mentor the co-coordinators of Fall Welcome. In this position I served as a resource for all questions, support in the planning and implementation of Fall Welcome programs, and ensured all work being done was timely and professional. I also took the head in organizing and maintaining our Ambassador database, worked with professional staff to create partnerships, and maintained communication with the First Year Experience office to build top-notch team dynamics.
