I have had a broad experience developing medical device products and entire systems which range from spine, cardiovascular devices to oncology and orthopedics. These devices and systems have approached their treatment goals using various methods like RF Energy, mechanical interface, chemical treatment, heating, cooling, Ultrasound, Navigation, and Visualization. I have been involved in companies with as few as three employees and have taken them from concept through function prototypes, clinical use in the US, EU and South America, and commercial release in the US and EU. I have built R&D teams from scratch and I have helped these companies grow. I have been able to do this through my hands on approach to product development. I have also trained numerous young engineers to become effective design designers. During such simple beginnings, I have taken on management of not only R&D but also operations/manufacturing and Quality. I have delivered these products with the appropriate adherence to the FDA’s quality expectations as well as manufacturing standards for medical devices. My experience in directly supporting trial & clinician training as well as directly supporting cases gives me a unique perspective in understanding and meeting the needs of the user before the product ever gets to the user. My current role is as Senior Director of R&D at DePuy Synthes Spine leading the development of advanced MIS surgical systems
