Eric managed the software development team for the control & monitoring system for the A2-Leidsche Rijn tunnel. To assure a verifiable product, Eric implemented software configuration management, defect resolution, reviewing and inspection processes and introduced SCRUM. Implemented a training & certification program for the future tunnel operators.

Eric defined a verification and validation strategy for one of the largest tunnel projects in the Netherlands. The strategy needed to be defined to ensure full end-to-end integration of all systems that are in or near the tunnel entries / exits and the regional traffic control centres.As a sidestep, Eric assisted in a bid and described the Systems Engineering approach for a large capacity improvement project for the Maasvlakte, which is part of the Rotterdam Harbour.

Umbrella Project: guiding an international team of professionals to deliver Umbrella: a system for planning and distributing unaddressed mail to regions in the UK. The development and test team are based in India, the acceptance test team is based in the UK. Responsible for the budget and progress of the program. Supervising a team of developers in India (35 persons) and UK (3 persons).

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

In 2004 the Ministry of Interior (MOI) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia issued a contract for a nationwide implementation of law enforcement systems and traffic control centres. The purpose of ATVAM is to reduce the number of deaths and improving road safety. The MOI awarded the contract to three investor under a Build-Operate-Transfer contract - every investor is responsible for the deployment of an ATVAM system in one of the three regions in the Kingdom. The total contract value was estimated at 1,5 billion U.S. dollars. To manage the three investors, a project management office was established by the MOI, where Eric filled the position of National Technical Manager. Eric reported directly to the program director. As Technical Manager, Eric was responsible for detailing the program requirements, evaluating all designs (civil, electrical engineering, traffic engineering, mechanical and software components), acceptance and quality of the systems, defining and enforcing program-wide standards and manage change proposals. Eric managed a centralized technical team directly and defined systems engineering management policies for the technical teams in the three regions

The National Information Center (NIC) is the information technology service provider for all Ministry of Interior (MOI) sectors (Passport Directorate, Civil Registry, Security Forces, Police Units, Border Control, etc.). The basic role of the NIC is fulfilled by operating a main central office in Riyadh. In conjunction, the NIC maintains 10 regional zone centres spread throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Over 800 user sites connect to the central office through these regional zone centres.The purpose of this project was to research, select and deploy the most suitable RFID technology available to enhance the goals of the Ministry of Interior by providing an accurate and fast method of vehicle identification. Eric worked on the Statement of Work and organised stakeholder workshops to identify and elaborate the operational scenarios. The work was done in Riyadh (Saudi-Arabia), Dubai (United Arabic Emirates) and in the Netherlands. The project was put on hold in November 2008 because of the overlap with ATVAM.
