Principal researcher developing methods for the application of big data and cluster-computing technologies on-board airborne platforms to improve lethality and survivability. In under a year, developed entirely new edge computing capabilities and captured multiple government-sponsored contracted research and development (CRAD) opportunities, including a multi-phased effort that successfully deployed an Apache-based cluster computing software stack – the Tactical Cloud Reference Implementation (TCRI) – on a multi-node, open architecture flight computer. Demonstrated the use of this tactical cloud, on flight-ready hardware, for a U-2 multi-INT fusion scenario. Performed all aspects of program execution, including program shaping and planning, SOW development, proposal writing, scheduling, financial planning and oversight, CDRL preparation and delivery, and technical system and software engineering and development tasks.

Managed a highly productive and recognized team of 16+ software engineers and algorithm developers, with primary focus on visual analytics and user experience for a massive, scientific analytical system utilizing a high performance object database (OODBMS). Designed and implemented an extensible OO architecture for highly complex software written in Java and C++, employing patterns like Model-View-Controller, to facilitate concurrent analytical views of complex phenomenology and algorithm results. Exposed back-end analytic services to other systems via public REST API. Worked closely with senior sponsor management, corporate technical fellows, users, and systems engineers to define requirements and develop workflow CONOPS and prototyping strategies. Developed software plans, estimates, and schedules in accordance with corporate and customer processes. Conducted employee performance appraisals, determined merit increases and promotions, guided employees in their career development. As a member of the project leadership team, contributed to multiple high contract award fees, including five consecutive 100% awards.

Managed day-to-day business operations and professional consulting services provided to government and commercial organizations. Planned, organized, scheduled, controlled, and coordinated all resources and activities across multiple projects, including management consulting efforts, deployments of COTS products (like Remedy, Livelink, and Maximo), and custom software development (in MS Visual C++ and Visual Basic, using SQL Server or Oracle RDBMS). Worked closely with customers to derive requirements, develop process and technology roadmaps, and software / systems integration strategies.

Principal for the design, development, test, and hardware / software integration of a real-time, C/C++ embedded software and firmware RF switching subsystem on board the EC-130H Compass Call offensive counter-information aircraft. Developed low-level RS-232 serial port and proprietary display device drivers. Implemented system utilizing a round-robin with interrupts approach, targeting ruggedized PC/104 hardware.

Contributed to the integration of Link 16 / TADIL J data link capabilities into the Air Force’s billion-dollar ground radar-based command and control system – the Ground Theater Air Control System (GTACS) – employed by Control and Reporting Centers (CRCs). Designed and developed software in CMS-2, running on top of a LynxOS-based RTOS and targeting AN/AYK-16 computers. Maintained the Ada-based OCU Sim sub-system that provided an X11/Motif real-time, battlespace air picture for air controllers and weapons officers.

Prepared cost estimations, designed, developed, and tested the Automated Air Tasking Order (AATO) system. The Ada and C-based software system interfaced to the GTACS’ data bus via a TCP/IP gateway, feeding it detailed information about air sorties flown in-theater on a given day to aid in the combat identification of friendly and hostile aircraft and controlling and coordinating the employment of aircraft and air defense weapons.
