Over the past years is did several assignments: 2022Helped a microfinance bank in Liberia to develop a food & agri strategy. Focus during the assignment was on internal organisation, identifying the most promising value chains and getting to know the most import stakeholders. 2020 + 2021 For the year 2020 + 2021 I was part of the country team of Kenya for the Climate Resilient Agribusiness For Tomorrow (CRAFT) project.The CRAFT-project is a 5 year project in Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya, aiming to stimulate and support climate smart investments at SME / cooperative level. In all three countries there is a consortium of SNV, Wageningen universiteit (WUR), CCAFS, Agriterra and Rabo Partnerships. 5 value chains are selected that are important for its economy AND food securityMy task is to support/stimulate the above with strong focus on financial viability of the business plans and local bankability. Next to co-development of business cases I am also in contact with local banks and other related partners in the financial sector to on-board them early in the process and offer them support where needed. The cooperative deals with fish, avocado, chia, honey and beans. The objective was to examine the cooperative's situation in order to see whether there is a sufficient basis for Agriterra to work with them. Parts that were investigated were: business model, finance, governance, environment, sustainability, stakeholders and member commitment.
