Head of Shonan R&D Center located in the Shonan Health Innovation Park (iPark) in Fujisawa city.I am leading a team of talented and dynamic scientists to develop the next-generation of N-NOSE technologies. N-NOSE (Nematode-NOSE) is a simple, inexpensive, and highly sensitive cancer screening method based on the chemotaxis of the nematode C. elegans, which shows evasive action to the urine of healthy individuals while showing attraction to the urine of cancer patients.

- From Jan. 2010 to Aug 2020, I ran a research laboratory focused on cancer epigenetic. - The goal of my research was to understand the histone-code and the deregulation of the transcriptional regulation leading to diseases, especially cancers. - My laboratory studied the structure, function and regulatory pathways of histone modifiers, primarily histone methylation. - My team developed drug amenable for epigenetic therapy of cancers.(1) We defined the role of the NSDs family of HMTase in oncogenic processes.(2) We identified the opening mechanism of the SET domain of NSD1, NSD2 and NSD3 triggered by the allosteric binding of histone H3 or H4. (3) We deciphered the molecular determinants of the binding of the SET domain of NSD1, NSD2 and NSD3 with the histone marks H3K4, H3K9, H3K27, H3K36, H3K79 and H4K20.(4) We quantified the HMTase activities of NSD1, NSD2 and NSD3 with the histone marks H3K4, H3K9, H3K27, H3K36, H3K79 and H4K20, in vitro.(5) We uncovered the substrate versatility of the NSDs family in recognizing and methylating H3-K and H4-K marks.(6) We derived our findings to implement a virtual ligand screening strategy that led my laboratory to isolate a novel H3K36 HMTase inhibitor and the first H3-mimetic that targets NSD2/MMSET with an in vitro IC50 of 11μM with favorable numerical index of drug-likeness.
