Design, build, deploy and support machines and automated cells.Function as the subject matter expert for machinery safety and electrical systems for the Engineering and Maintenance departments.Select, source and purchase components required for projects.Generate wiring schematics, operation and maintenance manuals, operator instructions and other documentation as required.Lay out and build electrical panels.Program PLCs (Omron, some Allen Bradley), HMIs (Omron, Allen Bradley) and other configurable components (frequency drives, measuring instruments, etc.).Arrange for additional labour (both Stackpole employees and outside contractors) when needed for larger projects; oversee the work ensuring quality of workmanship and adherence to plans.Ensure machines and cells are compliant with relevant regulations: work with Electrical Safety Authority (Field Evaluations Branch) and consulting engineers to complete electrical safety certification and pre-start health and safety review process.Train employees in the operation of new machines and automation cells.Identify opportunities for improvement in existing processes, giving consideration to increased productivity, cost savings and safety; plan and implement identified improvements.Provide remote support, on an on-call basis, to maintenance and junior automation technicians: assist with troubleshooting and diagnosis by going online remotely with machinery and provide guidance and repair instruction over the phone to technicians on site
