Navy Divers (ND) perform underwater salvage, recovery, repair, and maintenance on ships and submarines; search for and recover downed aircraft; conduct harbor clearance operations; provide assistance to military, federal, state, and local civilian law enforcement agencies in diving operations and procedures; maintain and repair diving equipment and systems; research and develop new diving techniques and procedures; conduct submarine rescue operations; maintain forms, records, correspondence, and files; and perform and supervise recompression chamber operations, hyperbaric treatment for diving and non-diving illnesses, open and closed-circuit Underwater Breathing Apparatus (UBA) diving, surface-supplied air and mixed-gas diving operations, saturation diving systems, demolition operations, and small arms proficiency. Able to perform the duties required for ND1; demonstrate basic critical thinking skills and abilities; employ basic problem solving and decision-making models and approaches; analyze and evaluate multiple courses of action in complex environments; develop alternative paths and contingency plans as the situation dictates; critically assess and evaluate human resources policies and practices; incorporate strategic management processes in human resources practices; manage conflict resolution among personnel; integrate occupational compliance and safety best practices; integrate cultural and international laws into organizational practices; create measured improvements in organizational operational performance; employ techniques to measure quality control; demonstrate sustainable operational plans; integrate supply chain methodologies; and utilize aggregate planning, distribution planning and inventory management.

Responsible for the coordination of all facets of maintenance and material management (3-M) systems. Fills the role of implementing, evaluating, and coordinating the unit's planned maintenance systems (PMS). Along with managing the Maintenance Data Systems (MDS), the 3-M coordinator also serves as the unit's availability manager.

Directs teaching/learning activities in schools, training centers, and select reserve units. Writes learning objectives, prepares tests, evaluates instructional materials and the results of instruction, and counsels students on academic learning problems.With the ability to deliver lectures employing recitation, questions, self and group-paced methods of instruction, technology aids, and case study techniques. Equipped with the skill of motivational techniques to encourage learning within the students.Instructional areas include audiovisual materials. discussion, case studies, learner presentations, classroom exercises, computer-based training, and lecture. Utilizing communication techniques, learning objectives, instructional technology, case studies, motivation, self and group-paced methods of instruction, and questioning techniques.

Single-handedly wrote the coxswain course for the NSSF dive locker. Administrates the training and testing of personnel completing the course to test with the Commanding Officer to receive their coxswain pin. Upon completion of training, each individual is qualified to operate 65' Dive Boats and smaller vessels.

Performed repairs to the ship's hull, plumbing and piping systems, and structural members.Including brazing, electrical arc welding, oxyacetylene welding and cutting, and MIG/TIG welding; repairs ship plumbing and piping systems; fabricates damage control patches, sheet metal ducting, brackets, ladders, and platforms; completes maintenance data forms; orders repair parts and tools; maintains shipboard sewage systems.

3-M System Coordinator/Inspector

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to supervise management and operations of the 3-M (maintenance and material.

Diver First Class

Upon completion of the course, the student is able to perform advanced deep air surface-supplied diving; understand the use of hyperbaric.

Journeyman Instructor Training

Upon completion of the course, the student is able to deliver lectures employing recitation, questioning, self and group-paced methods.

Diver Second Class

Upon completion of the course, the student is able to perform first aid and CPR; apply knowledge of diving physics and use decompression.

Hull Technician, Class A, Welding Technology/Welder

Upon completion of the course, the student will demonstrate basic electric arc welding safety practices, equipment adjustment, material.
